About Julia
Julia is a native Angeleno who has had the pleasure of providing mental health care to the city’s diverse population for the past 15 years. While earning her Masters in Social Work at UCLA, she provided individual and school-based group therapy to middle-school students, focusing on improving social skills, self-esteem, and anger management. Julia also worked in collaboration with Juvenile Services, providing individual counseling to adolescents in order to prevent formal involvement with the court process and future offenses. After earning her graduate degree, she spent six years working for the Department of Veterans Affairs, providing individual and group psychotherapy to male and female veterans struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, depressive disorders and anxiety disorders.
When working with children and adolescents, Julia enjoys forming relationships with the family as a whole so the client can have the most support possible. She integrates mindfulness skills to help her clients learn to be kind and present with themselves, and the challenges of the moment.
Julia has extensive training in several evidence-based treatments such as: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for Trauma, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), CBT for Depression, CBT for Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (Trichotillomania), and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). She has also completed a two-year advanced certificate program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles.
